KELLEN ZAWADZKI (6'3, 190)

Kellen Zawadzki, an Ohio All-State First Team selection in Division II, will join the Foresters this fall.

As a senior at Tippecanoe High School (Tipp City, OH), Zawadzki averaged 21.1 points a game, scoring over 20 points 11 times last season and over 30 points in two games.

In his 12th game of the season, Kellen set the THS Single Game Scoring record with 39 points, while going over the 1,000 point mark in his high school career.  As a senior, he shot 55% from the field, 42% from three-point range, and led the team in free throw shooting at 82%. He ranked second for the Red Devils in rebounds (5.0), assists (3.9) and steals (3.0) per game.

Tippecanoe High School was 69-5 overall during Kellen’s three-year playing career. In those seasons, the Red Devils won three Central Buckeye Conference titles compiling a 30-0 conference record. Along the way, they set 16 school records, including most assists in a game (31), and ended with an impressive average scoring margin of +24.6 points per game.

As a senior, Zawadzki became Tippecanoe’s all-time leading scorer with 1,241 career points. He also set THS school records for Career Three-Point Field Goals (177 in his three years) and holds the Single Game Free Throw Percentage record (hitting 10 of 10).

Kellen’s recognitions are many. He was named in the Top 100 in Ohio by the Rick Bolus player rankings for college potential, was WHIO-TV’s Athlete of the Week, a District Nine Senior All-Star selection, the Player of the Year in District Nine Division II, a Dayton Daily News All-Area First Team selection (3 years in a row), All-Conference First Team selection (3 years in a row), and All-Southwest District First Team selection.

He topped it off by becoming an Ohio All-State Division II First Team selection. He participated in Ohio's Division I-II All-Star game with other Ohio All-State players, scoring 16 points for the South team.

Kellen also golfed at THS and he points out a unique distinction earned in that sport as well. He claims to be the only player at

Tippecanoe High to be disqualified from a match – because he lost all his golf balls.

Kellen has a strong basketball heritage. Both of his parents are coaches. His dad, Ray, holds the Ohio Athletic Conference record for Most Assists in a Single Season (227 at Otterbein); his grandfather, Ray Zawadzki,
is an Ohio Hall-of-Fame coach (515 wins).

Kellen excelled academically in High School as an Honor Roll student. He is planning to major in Business at Huntington.

AN IMPRESSIVE GROUP

These basketball credentials are impressive, but don’t overlook the fact these fine young men also have the academic achievement, self-discipline, and outstanding character to fit the HU program requirements.

The 2007-08 Schedule
Sizing Up the Opposition for Next Season
IT'S TOUGH BEING A FORESTER

The preliminary schedule has some familiar faces on it, but IPFW isn’t one of them yet. After a loss and one-point overtime win, it seems the Mastodons aren’t willing to put the Foresters on their schedule this year, so things may start a week later than usual.

Of the 14 non-conference teams (including a Cedarville date to be scheduled), six are NAIA D1 schools and there may be more; the opponents at Evangel are not known yet.

Known non-conference opponents had a combined record of 245-153 during the 2006-07 season for a 62% win ratio.

The Foresters will face some strong teams in Georgetown, Campbellsville, and Olivet Nazarene, all of which went to the NAIA D1 Tournament. St Francis, Indiana Wesleyan, Cedarville (date pending) and Evangel all played in the NAIA D2 Tournament.

HU will play 9 of their 30 regular season games against opponents who were ranked in the Top 25 nationally at some point last season. Only six of this year's opponents had losing records last year; half of those are unavoidable (they’re in the MCC).
